Instead of going to our website to see if a new Weekly Schedule has been posted, or waiting for an email reminder of a new posting, why not get new schedules sent to you directly? Here is a tip that is highly recommended for every member to adopt. Once enabled, the Weekly Schedule you will automatically receive it wqhen posted. This same tip can also be used with SIG groups which also post updates to their pages. By doing this, you will dramatically reduce the work by people within the club while ensuring that we all get the information we need.
1. Go to our website, www.grandphotos.org. 2. Select the left headline labeled "Weekly Schedule" printed in red.
3. This will take you to our Weekly Schedule page. Enter your email address in the indicated space and then select "SUBMIT"
4. A smaller window will appear after submitting your email. Enter the funny-looking letters into the box. If you can't read these letters easily, close this small window and press the SUBMIT button (above) again until you can enter the letters into the box.
Now press the "COMPLETE SUBSCRIPTION REQUEST" button just to the right of the box with the entered letters.
If you still make a mistake, you'll see the box below.
Simply enter the letters and try again....until you finally get the following box.
5. Now go to your email where you will receive a message asking for confirmation that you are located at this address. Press on the link with your mouse and you're finished.
Early each morning, you will recieve an email if (and only if) something new has been added.
Note: We will be adding this feature to the SIG webpages in the coming future. When we do, you'll follow the same instructions.
Join the Grand Photos Forum and talk with fellow members about....well....anything photography. For convenience, we've created areas of specific discussion areas. NOTE: you don't have to be a formal member of a SIG to participate in discussions here, so join in anywhere that you have even casual interest.
2. Now, you'll be in the Forum itself
If this is your first visit, then you can do either:
Be a part of the Grand Photos discussion! Select register. (recommended)
3. Filll-out the following information. Note that :while you are required to enter a birthday, it's not important that it be your real one. Even if you do, it's not shown publicly.
4. You're now ready to fully participate in the Grand Photos Forum (see below)
5. Select the Forum subject on the left that you want to enter.
6. When you're in the discussion category, you'll see the various "threads" or discussions in progress. Read the ones that look interesting.
7. But to enjoy the Forum to its fullest, join the conversation!
At the bottom is an area to post a reply. Simply enter what you want to say, press the Post Reply button, and you'll be part of the discussion. Come on in, the water is fine.
Note: It is possible to attach photos, documents and links into your posts. This can be helpful in sharing information with others, or asking for advice on a particular photo.
Currently, this Forum is not moderated. That is, no one is reading every posted message to keep the Forum running smoothly. That means we all must have the self-discipline to follow the basic rules.
1. Go to www.google.com/reader (or click this link)
A. Already have a Google Account? Log-in here. B. Don't have a Google Account? Create one (It's free, takes only a minute and you can use your own, current email address). After creating your Google Account come back here and continue at #2 just below.
2. Since you don't have a Google Reader account click "More"
3. Select Google Reader as the service you want to sign-up for.
4. Now see what you can do with it. When you're finished, go to the Grand Photos website and subscribe to some of the pages already available.
5. Highly recommended is News Updates selection on our website.
6. This is the page that you want put into your reader when it's changed. Press the RSS button for Posts.
7. Select Google Reader as the one you want to use (so that the subscription is sent to the right place).
8. Finally, you need to specify where the subscription is going to appear. Some people have a personalized Google Home page and want it to appear here (A). Most people will want their subscriptions to go directly into their Google Reader, so select (B)--recommended.
9. Now you can go to your Google Reader to check on what news has come in (not just from Grand Photos but all of the other sites that you use this technique with). Remember, go to www.google.com/reader. Stay logged in so anytime you go there, you'll be able to see what's waiting for you.
